A Tour Around San Angel Inn
A look at the inside of San Angel Inn restaurant at Epcot.
As you can see the area is very dark so bring your flashlights to read those menus! Or well I suppose a cell phone would do just fine here. I actually thought the dark room was a great way to cool down and relax on this particularly hot summer day at Epcot.
One of the huge downsides that my husband agreed with me on is the tables are crammed in together. Which we both thought was very surprising since the restaurant wasn’t even half full. Plus the tables are also so tiny we had a hard time fitting all our plates, drinks and chips on the table. We were able to pawn off some the extras like the drink menu and water glasses on the table next to us. I can’t imagine how parties that are larger than just the two of us get to squeeze in at the table.
Dishes from San Angel Inn
Here is a look at the dishes we tried from our dinner at the San Angel Inn.
Chips and salsa come with the meal here at the San Angel Inn. Chips were pretty standard and they came out right with our drinks. We were happy to see this since we were starving. The salsa I thought was pretty mild for a Mexican spot, I was happy since I can’t handle spicy food, but other fans of heat may be disappointed.
The chips come with two different salsas. One is a mild red and the other is slightly spicier green tomatillo salsa.
The Queso Fundito gets rave reviews at this spot so we decided to start our meal out with it. I mean hot melted cheese and bread you just can’t go wrong right? The Monterey Jack cheese served is served with Chorizo which gave it a nice kick and added plenty of flavor to what would have been an otherwise bland dish. We got four flour tortillas along with it which seemed like a pretty perfect amount for the two of us. The table chips let us scoop up any last bit of cheesy deliciousness out of the pan.
I went with the Tacos de Costilla de Carne. It was a braised beef tacos that came with rice, beans, onions, peppers, and guacamole! Corn tortillas to make the tacos were served on the side. It was a very generous portion that I had a hard time getting through after I filled up on chips, don’t make my mistake! I loved how much flavor the beef had it was a good dish a surprisingly good price.
My husband went for the Pollo a Las Rajas. This is grilled chicken breast over a bed of roasted garlic potatoes with onion, red peppers, corn and poblano pepper cream sauce topped with queso fresco.
The San Angel Inn Review Recommendation
The downside to the San Angel Inn seems to be it lacks consistency. I have dined here before and had less than stellar things to say. That was years ago before they redid the menu and added the second restaurant out on the water. I have heard from others that it had just been a meh experience. Maybe I just went in with low standards but I was pretty happy with our experience here. The atmosphere did make a nice romantic meal for the two of us. Our waiter was very prompt and our service was great. We stayed on the cheaper side of menu options so the price of the meal we pretty low compared with other Disney sit down spots.
