Fastpass selection is a crucial part of planning your Disney vacation. If you don’t book Fastpasses it can cost you hours of waiting in line during your vacation. It is included on our list of How to Save Time at Disney. We know if you don’t visit Disney World a lot or have never been it can be hard to judge which three Fastpasses you should pick out of the group. So we have broken it down into two categories, allowing you to pick the best Disney Fastpasses. First is the families that don’t have to worry about height restrictions, typically ones without small children. Secondly, we have families with height restrictions, all the rides listed here will be free of any height restrictions.
Magic Kingdom Fastpass Picks
Picks for Families without Height Restrictions
Seven Dwarf Mine Train – This new roller coaster nestled in Fantasyland is family friendly, which is why it constantly yields waits over an hour. It is also one of the most difficult Fastpasses to get and if you can find it, it seems like it’s always only available for evening times.
Space Mountain – Another roller coaster but this one isn’t as family friendly. Completely in the dark, you jet off into space for a wild ride full of sudden drops and whipping turns. This is a great stop for the thrill seekers in your family.
Splash Mountain – This ride does not have a high-capacity, but it does have a high demand. It doesn’t take long for Splash Mountain to build up a long line. This is a great one for a little afternoon cool off with the family.
Picks for Families with Height Restrictions
Peter Pan’s Flight – The line here NEVER ends! But who doesn’t want to fly off in an enchanted ship? If you are looking to take your kids on this one, get a Fastpass! The capacity is so low it just can’t handle the crowds that build over the course of the day.
Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin – The mission of becoming a Galactic Hero is a tough one to beat. This ride has a great amount of re-ridability and the lines here get long. Grab a Fastpass and forget about worrying about a long wait.
Pirates of the Caribbean – Even though this attraction is known as a people eater, I still catch it frequently gaining 20 minute waits or longer! This is a timeless Disney attraction which now ties into the movie franchise of the same name.
Epcot Fastpass Picks
Picks for Families without Height Restrictions
Test Track – I picked this one over Soarin’ because with the new addition of another theater it really keeps waiting times down. The bummer about this park is that Fastpasses here are in tiers. So you are forced to pick only one of the following attractions: Test Track, Soarin’, Illuminations & Frozen Ever After.
Other Two – Whatever you feel like, the rides in group B rarely get long lines so it’s really a toss-up on what to pick. Fastpasses for group B really come in handy during the peak seasons like major US holidays.
Picks for Families with Height Restrictions
Frozen Ever After – Even years after the release of Frozen this ride remains in high demand! For a good reason, it was extremely well done! If you can’t score a Fastpass for this one read, Useful Tips on how to Ride Frozen Ever After.
Other Two – Whatever you feel like, the rides in group B rarely get long lines so it’s really a toss-up on what to pick. Fastpasses for group B really come in handy during the peak seasons like major US holidays.
Hollywood Studios Fastpass Picks
Picks for Families without Height Restrictions
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – This brand new ride is the first of Galaxy’s Edge to come onboard the Fastpass system. We are all waiting for The Rise of the Resistance to join as well. While we previously saw the line for this attraction stay within the 45 – 60 minute range I know this wait time with increase with the addition of Fastpass. So getting a Fastpass in advance is now more critical. Note that this ride is a tier-one attraction. So you will be forced to choose between this and Slinky Dog Dash as you can only have one or the other. Eventually, we should expect to see Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and Rise of the Resistance
Slinky Dog Dash – As mentioned above this is our second tier one attraction for Hollywood Studios. This kids coaster is high thrills and gives you stunning views of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge along with the rest of the theme park.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster – Launch into a high-speed adventure through LA to get to an Aerosmith concert. This high-speed thrill coaster includes inversions, corkscrews, and drops. Due to the construction currently happening at Hollywood Studios this line gets even longer than before. So with fewer things available it really makes everything at this park quickly get a long line.
Tower of Terror – A haunted abandoned hotel what could go wrong right? Enter the twilight zone and plunge up to 13 stories! Again being an iconic Disney thrill ride and having limited attractions open at this park make the Iine long here.
Picks for Families with Height Restrictions
Toy Story Midway Mania – Hoards of people at every park opening just swarm to this ride. It’s the best family ride at this park. It has just enough excitement and adds an element of family competition. See who in your family can get the highest score, who knows, maybe you will make the board for the highest score of the day!
Animal Kingdom Fastpass Picks
Picks for Families without Height Restrictions
Avatar Flight of Passage – This brand new ride, is unlike anything I have ever experienced before! While a simulator, it certainly isn’t your standard one. Feel what it is like to venture into the world of Pandora, with sights, sounds and even touch!
Expedition Everest – Another popular roller coaster! Until the World of Pandora opened at Animal Kingdom this was the only big thrill ride at the park. So naturally, the lines here stay steady as people venture on an expedition through the Himalayas, but watch out for the Yeti!
Kilimanjaro Safaris – I love doing this ride multiple times during a trip. Because it’s real animals you are seeing out on safari the experience is different every time you ride. Also, keep in mind that there are two different experiences here, there is the normal daytime ride that has been there since the attraction opened and the newly release nighttime safari which is slightly shorter but features different animals.
Picks for Families with Height Restrictions
Kilimanjaro Safaris – You can basically read what I wrote above! It’s such a great ride I had to mention it for both groups.
Na’vi River Journey – This new attraction has insane lines, especially with the hoard of crowds that head to Pandora first thing in the morning.
Rivers of Light – This nighttime show is popular and a must see if you haven’t already.
