Cosmic Ray's Starlight Café

Cosmic Ray's Starlight Café is the largest quick service dining location in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom. Due to its size, and lack of competition, this is the most popular spot to grab a bite to eat in Tomorrowland.

Cosmic Ray's serves pretty standard blah American food and is a great option for those who aren't the most adventurous eaters out there. It's pretty much a selection of burgers, chicken tenders, and salad. The good things about this menu are it tends to cover the bases and make everyone in your party happy with something on the menu.

A Look Around Cosmic Ray's Starlight Café

The deco here is much like the rest of Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom filled with a retro-future look. Sadly, there isn't much to the decor around this dining spot it's pretty bare and sticks to the basics. There is one extra special guest of honor which we will get to in a second.

One of the biggest confusing things about Cosmic Ray's is the ordering setup. There are three different bays each with their own menu items. So please pay attention when you walk up to order that what you want is on the menu ahead of you. Another downfall is this may mean that your party needs to split up for ordering or if you have one adult need to order twice. We find the quickest, easiest way around this is to just put in a mobile order. You simply use the My Disney Experience App select what you want, how to pay and head to the pickup area when it's ready. When there are long lines during meal times this will also save you some time waiting as well!

Here is a look at the famed Sonny Eclipse! He is always ready to put on a show for you along with his space angels. If you want to see his entire performance it will take around 25 minutes. No worries about missing anything though since this guy is on a loop! His singing act is even infused with a few jokes and adds some life to an otherwise bland restaurant.

You can't hear him in the entire restaurant so be sure to sit in his area across from the middle ordering bay. This is where they commonly hold dance parties during Magic Kingdoms extra ticketed events like Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.

Here is a look at various items we have tried over the years at Cosmic Rays, the menu is always evolving and changing. We always recommend looking at the My Disney Experience app ahead of time to see a current menu for your trip.

Triple-B Burger

This burger is an Angus Beef Patty with Bacon, Cheddar Spread, Crispy Onions, and Coca-Cola® Cherry-Barbecue Sauce on a Brioche Bun served with French Fries. It was pretty much your basic Disney burger found at any of the various theme parks, the BBQ sauce on this was a little overly sweet so if that's not your thing I would skip this one.

Rotisserie Chicken

This is a look at the rotisserie chicken on the menu, my go-to healthy option. It's officially on the menu a slow-roasted Rotisserie Chicken served with Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans. Now, remember you can always switch up your two sides that come with this meal. On this night they were out of mashed potatoes so I jumped at the chance to try the special side below.

Note this item is typically only available during dinner time and not when they are serving lunch.

Galaxy Loaded Fries

Ah just look at the Galaxy Loaded Fries! Specifically, they are fries topped with Bacon, Pico Relish, Garlic Ranch Sauce, Cheese Sauce, and Flaming Hot Cheese Dust. They are really not spicy at all, I have a low spice tolerance level these were hardly considered spicy. This is a secret menu item and the only way you can get it is by placing a mobile order. You can order it as a stand-alone or upgrade one of your meals sides to them for an extra fee.

Chicken Nuggets

I know I have said this before but chicken nuggets at Disney are good! They are real chicken not parts and pieces of chicken processed back together. Plus the breading is the perfect amount of crunch. This is always a safe bet when you are unsure of what to get at a Disney quick service location.

Greek Salad with Chicken Strips

If you want to take your chicken nuggets to the next level try them on this classic greek salad. The greek salad includes, Feta, Tomato Relish, Banana Peppers, and Kalamata Olives tossed in a Greek Feta Vinaigrette Dressing.

I find that they give you so much salad that we have ordered a chicken nugget meal and this and then split the fries and lettuce and just added more protein to our lunches when we stop in here.

Spicy Chicken Sandwich

This is essentially a fried chicken sandwich with a little heat. If you love super spicy this will feel a little lacking. There is heat to the chicken but I was surprisingly able to handle it so it wasn't too outrageously spicy.

This chicken sandwich is topped with Bacon, Sriracha Aïoli Pickle Slaw, and Pepper Jack on a Brioche Bun served with French Fries.

Chili-Cheese All-Beef Foot-long Hot Dog

This is a Chili-Cheese All-Beef Foot-long Hot Dog topped with Chili and Cheddar served with French Fries. It was a pretty standard Disney hot dog. It also fits into the standard American theme park food menu item. We didn't feel like it was anything too special and much prefer getting the greek salad or the rotisserie chicken here.

Cosmic Rays Toppings Bar

We didn't get a burger on this trip but if you do you can customize to your heart's content. There is loads of lettuce, tomato, pickles, cheese, sautéed mushrooms, peppers, and more to top your sandwiches and burgers.

Lunar Lemonade

This drink is a mix of Minute Maid® Lemonade with Desert Pear Syrup served over ice. I thought it had a very similar taste to the popular violet lemonade served over at the Flower and Garden Festival in Epcot.

Overall Recommendation for Cosmic Ray's Starlight Café

This restaurant is a go-to for many it's got okay menu items but we find ourselves tending to pick other places at the Magic Kingdom over this. We love grabbing Nachos over at Pecos Bill or enjoying castle views and a hot dog at Casey's Corner and when we can the food game is way better over at Be Our Guest. If you are looking for a burger or nuggets and an escape from the heat this is a great spot to relax and enjoy a concert from Sonny.
