For a rooting, hollering good time then head on over to Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge in Walt Disney World. You can find this spot directly off the lobby at the Wilderness Lodge. It’s a western themed restaurant with some fantastic all you can eat BBQ. If you are heading here get ready to be a part of some yelling and family fun. If your ideal dining experience is silence, quiet and calm then you should just walk straight past this restaurant and head to Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge. This restaurant is a prime spot for you young rambunctious kids and the adult kids too who will thrive in this dining experience. There will be screaming, there will be yelling and there will be chaos. There are of course the famous ketchup runs, be warned if you ask for ketchup you will get a table full. We even found some misbehaved parents who ended up in “jail” at their table.

A Tour Around Whispering Canyon Cafe
A look at Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge Resort in Walt Disney World.
When you walk into the lobby at the Wilderness Lodge you will find the Whispering Canyon Cafe immediately to the left. If you have been here in the past you may have noticed things are a little quieter than in the past but don’t worry it’s still got all the fun and sass of the past.
The view of the restaurant overlooks out into this grand and beautiful lobby. It’s one of my favorites, especially at Christmastime. The decor inside Whispering Canyon Cafe is much like the rest of the hotel and is wood, wood, everywhere. It’s got a wide open rustic feel. It’s one giant open room that opens right up to the lobby. Which may be the cause for the recent quiet down.
Whispering Canyon Cafe is the perfect stop for kids. We thought it was the western version of Ohana without the amazing bread pudding dessert. We don’t just say this because of the all you care to eat platter they have similar activities for the kids. Periodically throughout the evening, they have horse races using the wooden horses pictured above.
Let’s not forget the never-ending ketchup game that occurs at Whispering Canyon Cafe. If you are a brave soul or your just love to some good fun be sure to ask your waiter for some ketchup while you’re here. When we were there whichever table was filled to the top with ketchup was responsible for running into to the next table when the screamed to the whole restaurant that they needed ketchup.
Other antics you may find are if you drink through your soda a little too fast. Your annoyed waiter will be instead serving you with one extra large mason jar filled to the brim with the soda of your choice.
Dishes from Whispering Canyon Cafe
Here is a look at the dishes we tried from our dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe. There are dishes you can order off of the menu but we opted for the all you can eat skillet meal.
As soon as we were seated we were quickly greeted with some delicious cornbread and butter. It was right up there with the famously delicious cornbread found at Trails End. You can see we were hungry since I didn’t remember to snap a picture until it was practically all gone.
First up is the leafy green stuff. This was your typical garden salad with a good vinaigrette. It had some awesomely fresh grape tomatoes and the green apples added some great flavor to the salad as well.
We opted to go straight for the Whispering Canyon Cafe classic the All-You-Care-To-Enjoy Skillet! This plate is loaded with Slow-smoked Pork Ribs, Barbecued Pulled Pork, Citrus Herb Chicken, Oak-smoked Beef Brisket, Western-style Sausage, Mashed Yukon Potatoes, Buttered Corn, Seasonal Farm-fresh Vegetables, and Cowboy-style Baked Beans.
Since my husband gobbled up all the mashed potatoes and corn on me our waitress brought us out another platter of just the stuff we wanted refills on. The chicken, potatoes, and veggies were my absolute favs!
Whispering Canyon Cafe Review Recommendation
Whispering Canyon Cafe is a dinner and an unpredictable show all in one. I really loved taking in all the action here it was so much fun to watch all the families running around and having fun. The staff here is also incredible and really gets into everything. As I mentioned earlier this is not the place to go when you have a headache and want a quiet meal. We definitely will be coming back here. It’s a perfect spot for large parties and celebrations. There had to be five birthday just when we were there for our meal.
