Surprisingly Cheap Disney Add Ons that are Awesome

Sometimes it is the extras that can just add that extra something special to your vacation. The problem is at Disney World there is a high price tag on a lot of those fun extras they offer to guests. But with a little digging, I was able to find some surprisingly cheap Disney add ons that are awesome. Everything below is under $50 per person that you can do on your next Disney World vacation.

Characters in Flight

You are not going to the capture the pictures you can grab on this hot air balloon ride anywhere else. If you ride the Characters In Flight Balloon before 10:00 AM, each person rides for just $10.00. Did you know you can also book at wedding 400 feet in the air at Disney World? Caring for Giants

Baby Elephant Animal Kingdom

During this 60-minute experience, you’ll meet with animal specialists who provide for the care and wellness of the African elephant herd at the Animal Kingdom. Caring for Giants gives you a glimpse into their day-to-day responsibilities as they provide fascinating facts about the elephants.

African cultural representatives will also be on hand to share stories of Disney’s conservation efforts dedicated to the preservation of wild populations throughout their homeland.

Throughout this experience, you’ll be able to observe the elephants from approximately 80 to 100 feet away. So you’ll enjoy a close encounter with the elephants than you would during other in-park experiences.

Behind the Seeds Tour

Explore the future of agriculture and get up-close and personal with the critters of The Land Pavilion on this one-hour walking tour. If you like the Living with the Land attraction at Epcot then you’ll love Behind the Seeds! You will get a tour of the fish farm and 4 greenhouses that make up The Land Pavilion. It is also a great experience for anyone with an interest in gardening or natural sciences.

Disney Family Magic Tour

This tour is a guided scavenger hunt that is designed for the whole family to get along. You will make your way through Magic Kingdom park, picking up clue after clue while unlocking a grand and memorable quest you won’t soon forget. Are you up for the challenge?

If you are a frequent visitor to Disney World this is a great way to change things up and uncover some clues you didn’t notice before. Currently, Disney’s Family Magic Tour is $39. If you have a Disney Visa or an Annual Passholder make sure you get a discount!

Horse Drawn Carriage Rides

Take a romantic carriage ride along the riverbanks over at Fort Wilderness. This is one of our date night recommendations as well! For a little bit over our $50 restriction, you can get a private carriage ride. The group ones are 25 minutes long and cost $12 per adult and $8 per child.

The rides are available on a first-come, first-served basis, wagon rides depart daily at 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM (weather permitting) from the front of Pioneer Hall.

Pirate Cruise

Scallywags 4 to 12 years of age can set sail on a pirate adventure for approximately 2 hours, following clues to discover hidden treasure. During your cruise, you will sail to exotic “ports of call” (Resort marinas). The kids will hear legends of pirates past and discover clues that may just lead to a bountiful treasure chest. At the final port of call, kids split up the pirate booty, as they enjoy a snack (such as goldfish crackers or pretzels) and a drink (such as water or a juice box).

Currently, the Pirates Cruise tours are $49 for adults and $39 for children. If you have a Disney Visa or an Annual Passholder make sure you take advantage of your discount!

Pirate’s League

In Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom, your little ones can undergo a pirate transformation. Pirate Masters can turn Guests ages 3 and older into a themed pirate, Captain Hook, an empress or a mermaid. Pirate’s League packages range from $34.95 to $74.97. Since these are add ons, I am assuming you have to purchase actual park tickets. Or are there any adventures that you can do without purchasing a park ticket?

Some you don't need a ticket for! The balloon ride at Disney Springs is one of those. Carriage rides are non ticketed, simply head over to Fort Wilderness they will let you park for free. Also, the pirate voyage you don't, you meet up at the Contemporary for that as well.
