The Big Guide to Early Morning Magic at Toy Story Land

The Big Guide to Early Morning Magic at Toy Story Land

Disney invited us to attend this ticketed event at no cost to us, however, my opinions shared in this article are 100% my own.

If you haven't heard Toy Story Land can get quite packed at Hollywood Studios. If you are like me you may want to look into Early Morning Magic at Toy Story Land and avoid the crowds and waiting in line altogether. There is no shortage of early morning and late night special events popping up at Disney World so let's see how this one stacks up to the others.

Early Morning Magic at Toy Story Land Quick Overview

The event takes place from 7:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. on select dates throughout the year (typically Mondays and Wednesdays). Disney limits the number of tickets sold at this event so you can expect a near-empty Toy Story Land. This means before the park opens you can ride Toy Story Mania, Slinky Dog Dash, and Alien Swirling Saucers as much as you want. This is all with little to no wait! I also really enjoyed that I was able to capture tons of pictures I wouldn't normally be able to take when Toy Story Land is open.

Booking Early Morning Magic

First off let's start with the booking process because it can be a little confusing. When booking online you can choose between a 7:00 am or 7:30 am time slot. Just know that this time selection doesn’t actually matter. Either reservation will gain you entry at 7:00 am.

This is a separately ticketed Disney event so there is an additional cost to attend. Unlike the After Hours events you will need to have a regular park ticket in addition to your event ticket. This is because the event overlaps regular park hours. Event tickets are $79 for adults and $69 for kids (plus tax).

Breakfast for Toy Story Early Morning Magic

If you are like me and need breakfast and coffee to function then I highly recommend making sure you are at the front of the park by 7 am. This will let you get a jump start on breakfast and not cut into your precious time that you could be on rides.

Breakfast is served up here inside of Backlot Express. This kinda stinks since you really can't get that much further away from Toy Story Land but it was a good walk to wake up and stretch.

Entrees for Toy Story Early Morning Magic:

  • Breakfast Charcuterie Platter
  • Smashed Avocado Toast and Egg Plate
  • Mexican Corn Chilaquiles and Egg Bowl
  • Shrimp and Southern Grits Bowl
  • Fried Chicken and Cinnamon-Sugar French Donut Bowl

The breakfast also includes a selection of continental breakfast items in addition to your entree. These items are cereal, coffee, tea, fruit, make your own parfait and assorted pastries. Also if you like don't be shy you can order more than one entree per person!

Mexican Corn Chilaquiles and Egg Bowl

I opted to go for the Mexican Corn Chilaquiles and Egg Bowl. It was just the egg breakfast I needed to get a jump start on my busy day. It wasn't spicy at all if you are worried.

There was a selection of fruit and yogurt with toppings. So you could make a fruit plate or build your own parfait.

I was happy to see my favorite, chocolate croissants, as a part of the pastry selection.

Rides Open During Early Morning Magic at Toy Story Land

  • Slinky Dog Dash
  • Alien Swirling Saucers
  • Toy Story Mania!
  • Character meetings with Buzz, Woody, and Jessie
  • Plus all the Photopass spots inside Toy Story Land

During the event, attraction wait times should never exceed 15 minutes for any of these attractions. When I was there everything was a walk-on with one exception. The wait for Woody and Jessie was exceptionally long. I would say it was about a 20-minute wait though I opted to skip and ride Slinky Dog Dash a few more times instead.

Touring Plan Recommendation for Toy Story Land's Early Morning Magic

  1. Start by arriving promptly at 7 am! Get your guide and wristband and head to the waiting point at the Chinese Theater.
  2. If you want to meet Woody and Jessie then I recommend doing this first. Otherwise hit any other ride in the land expect Slinky Dog. The initial rush will hit Slinky and then die out so do this ride second on your list.
  3. Continue to enjoy rides and characters until 9 am.
  4. At 9 am the rush of the regular folk will enter the area, this is a good time to leave and go and enjoy other rides in the park.
  5. Make sure you enjoy your breakfast, leave yourself 30 minutes for food and head over this way no later than 9:30 am.

Important Notes on Early Morning Magic at Toy Story Land

Early morning magic is NOT the same at extra magic hours. Extra magic hours are open to all Disney Resort guests and are free of charge. The extra magic hours at the parks also have many more attractions opens across the park and are not limited to one area.

If you plan on going to Hollywood Studios on a morning of this event keep in mind that Toy Story Land will already be filled with people from the event. On the plus side everyone that is there should be finished riding all the rides.

While you book this event through the dining section of Disney's website, you can NOT use dining credits towards the purchase of this item.

Also, though the Disney resort buses will be operating in time for you to attend this event, in order to ensure you arrive on time we recommend looking at other transportation options. Some of these transportation options include Minnie Vans or Uber/Lyft.

Is Toy Story Land's Early Morning Magic Worth the Cost?

With the combo of rides and character experiences, I like to tell people to compare it to a character breakfast. If this is something your family would spend money on then this event is a great fit. A character meal at Disney World can easily run $45 per adult. So for an extra $35 per person you get access to all the rides of Toy Story Land in addition to your favorite Toy Story characters.

So to recap $79 gets you a huge breakfast spread, characters, rides, and best of all NO CROWDS! This is a pretty good deal if you ask me. With how busy Disney remains these days opportunities to have no waits and no crowds are something I jump at.

If you are like me and concerned about early morning wake up calls on your vacation you do have another option. There is also a late night event called After Hours for Hollywood Studios. This event gives you access to more than just Toy Story Land as well! The downside is it will cost you more than this early morning magic event. The price for After Hours tickets purchased in advance is $125 per adult or child, plus tax. If you purchase on the day of the event it will run you $129 per adult or child, plus tax. Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members can take advantage of specially priced tickets for just $95 per adult or child, plus tax.
