Walt Disney World is not only the Most Magical Place on Earth, but it is also home to great attractions! While most attractions are designed to be enjoyed by the whole family, Disney World also has an exciting assortment of thrill rides!
But what ride is the fastest? The answer might shock you… Here is a look at the ten Fastest Rides at Disney World.
10. Space Mountain - Top Speed 27 MPH
Nope. This isn’t the fastest ride in Walt Disney World. Just the opposite. Space Mountain is the slowest of all the thrill rides! We thought for sure Space Mountain would be in the top 3, but apparently, being in almost complete darkness really messes with you! At only 27 MPH, this attraction is not only last on the list, it’s last by a lot.
Height Requirement: 44”
9. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train - Top Speed 34 MPH

This shouldn’t be a huge surprise. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a fun and smooth roller coaster, and with rocking ride vehicles, this roller coaster is downright relaxing!
If it’s not fast or thrilling, why does it always have such a long line? Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is not only a roller coaster, it also combines a classic Disney dark ride in the attraction. That, in addition to it having one of the lowest “big kid ride” height requirements. Plus, the song is really catchy.
Height Requirement: 38”
8. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - Top Speed 36 MPH

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad isn’t some super intense roller coaster, but we have a tip to make it truly the wildest ride in the wiiiiiilderness (IYKYK). Politely ask the Cast Member to have the last row. You may have to wait a couple of extra turns, but trust us, it’s totally worth it.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is fun, but BTMR in the last row is a real yee-haw of a coaster! You will feel like you’re being whipped around!
Disney Fun Fact: BTMR has actually been cited in a medical journal as being a natural cure for kidney stones! Apparently, if you have kidney stones, just ride this attraction 12 times!
Height Requirement: 40”
7. Twilight Zone Tower of Terror - Top Speed 39 MPH

You wouldn’t think about Twilight Zone Tower of Terror as being a fast ride… until you think about that drop! 39 miles per hour may not seem like much, but you’re only falling for a second, so it’s impressive to reach speeds that fast!
Height Requirement: 40”
6. Splash Mountain - Top Speed 39 MPH

Splash Mountain is a 12-minute dark ride, but that last 5 seconds of Splash Mountain is what everyone knows it for! That iconic log flume drop reaches impressive speeds of 39 mph. Zippity doo dah, that’s how you have a wet day!
Height Requirement: 40”
5. Slinky Dog Dash - Top Speed 40 MPH

Slinky Dog Dash has been one of Hollywood Studios’ most popular rides since it opened in 2018, and it makes sense why! For such a cute coaster that is made from toys, it packs a bit of a wallop when you consider that it’s more than 10 mph faster than Space Mountain!
PRO-TIP: Just like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, request the back row for the ultimate experience! Trust us, you will feel the difference!
Height Requirement: 38”
4. Expedition Everest: Legend of the Forbidden Mountain - Top Speed 50 MPH

We knew the Yeti was terrifying and fast, but holy cow, we had no idea it was 50 MPH fast! Now, full disclosure this is the listed “top speed”, which means at its fastest point, this is as fast as it goes. Since this coaster *SPOILER ALERT* drops backwards, we would imagine that this is where that 50 MPH comes into play.
Height Requirement: 44”
3. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith - Top Speed 57 MPH

Did you know that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is the ONLY roller coaster in Walt Disney World to go upside down? It also has one of the tallest height requirements in all of the parks.
PSA - Do not cheat these height requirements. They are there for safety. A ride that goes upside down at 57 MPH needs to ensure that the ride can properly fit in the safety restraint (without falling out).
Height Requirement: 48”
2. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind - Top Speed 60 MPH

Walt Disney World’s newest ride is for sure one of their most wild rides to date! Not only does it have a backwards launch, it spins, combines 3D screens, and it’s fast. Like Ricky Bobby fast. It’s wild to think that at 60 MPH, it’s still only number 2 on the list.
Since Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is such a new attraction, there are limited ways to ride it. Disney is utilizing the virtual queue like they introduced with Rise of the Resistance back in 2019. Guests with an EPCOT park reservation can click to join the virtual queue at 7:00 AM EST, and if they miss it, they can try again at 1:00. Mind you, the 7:00 virtual queue can be done anywhere, but for the 1:00 queue, you must be in the parks. There is an additional virtual queue at 6:00 PM EST, but that is only for deluxe resort guests on a night with extended evening hours.
Set those clocks, and be sure to screenshot everything! If you have a glitch or a problem take your screenshots to a Cast Member at Guest Relations at those kiosks in the parks with the blue umbrellas. There are literally thousands of people logging on to the same app as you at the same exact time. There will be occasional crashes.
Height Requirement: 42”
1. Test Track - Top Speed 65 MPH

Can you believe it?! Test Track! Test Track is the fastest ride in all of Walt Disney World. Sure we knew it was fast as you are whipping around those curves and testing out your Chevrolet concept car, but geesh! I don’t think we can ever look at Test Track and Space Mountain the same ever again…
Height Requirement: 40”

I am a mother of three that has refused to grow up. Adulting is for the birds, so I go to Disney World every chance I get for that magical escape from reality. I believe that Haunted Mansion is the best ride in all of the Disney Parks, and I am fervently in team Happily Ever After for fireworks spectaculars, (sorry, not sorry, Enchanted). Finally, I hope I never grow tired of skipping down Main Street, USA, and my dream come true would be "friends with" the Fairy Godmother in my old age.
