10 Best Desserts in EPCOT

10 Best Desserts in EPCOT

EPCOT is known for the World Showcase and its festivals. There is amazing food, drinks, and sweet treats, but between the permanent pavilions and whatever festival is going on at the moment, how do you choose?

There is almost always a festival going on in EPCOT. Throughout the year there is the Festival of the Arts, the Flower and Garden Festival, the Food and Wine Festival, and the Festival of the Holidays. While those festivals are going on, the main permanent pavilions are offering amazing foods all year round, and their desserts are the stars of the show!

Let’s look at the best desserts all around the World Showcase that are there no matter what festival is going on!

Pretzel Bread Pudding

The overall best dessert to get in EPCOT is the pretzel bread pudding that’s available over in the Germany pavilion. This dessert makes the number one spot because it is the ultimate salty/sweet/savory/all the above complexity. They take soft pretzels and soak them in custard and spices and bake it to perfection.

TIP FROM THE CAST MEMBER: Ask for extra vanilla sauce! It’s the sweet component of the bread pudding and this way you can get a little with every bite. Bonus – it doesn’t cost extra!

Note – It can be hard to find this window! When you walk into the little nook that is the Germany pavilion, walk towards Biergarten and find the Sommerhaus doorway to the right. It will feel like you shouldn’t be there because it feels like it’s part of the Table Service restaurant Biergarten, but rest assured, you’re at the right spot!

Croque Glaces

10 Best Desserts in EPCOT 5

Of course, France is going to be high on this list. France is the land of sugar and butter, and how can that go wrong? A Croque Glaces is a huge scoop of hand packed homemade ice cream in any flavor and it is put on a freshly made and warm brioche bun and then sealed in a press. It’s a real conundrum that this cold ice cream is sealed in this warm bun, but it all works. Just beware! It’s messy!

The Croque Glaces is available in the France pavilion at L’Artisan des Glaces. Ice cream flavors are offered based on availability. Typical flavors available at L’Artisan des Glaces are vanilla, chocolate, mint chocolate, caramel fleur de sel, coconut white chocolate, cinnamon with caramelized pecan, coffee, cinnamon caramel apple, candied peanuts with chocolate peanut butter fudge, and yogurt and berries.

Funnel Cake with Ice Cream

Maple Bacon Funnel Cake Epcot

Available at the funnel cake cart in the American pavilion this snack absolutely makes the list for one of the best EPCOT. Sometimes the best things are really the simple snacks. A swirl of fried dough is just iconic to theme parks, and pair it with the cool creaminess of ice cream, and it is perfect.

If you’re feeling a little froggy, try their Cookies and Cream funnel cake that has cookies and cream ice cream, chocolate sauce, and oreo cookies.

Kakigori with Sweet Milk Topping

Kakigori is a shaved ice treat with sweet and colorful syrup topping. Flavors available are rainbow (mix of all of them), strawberry, melon, cherry, tangerine, and blue raspberry. Unlike the other parks in Walt Disney World, everything in EPCOT is outdoors. Have you heard that Florida is hot? We always welcome a big cup of snow!

So, what’s the deal with the “sweet milk topping”? Sweetened condensed milk is very popular in a lot of parts of Asia, especially in more rural places where refrigeration is not standard and milk is scarce. Sweetened condensed milk is often used to top treats that we might use whipped cream or ice cream.

It may sound weird to put sweetened condensed milk on what is essentially a snowcone, but trust us, it’s delicious!

Caramel Popcorn

As you are walking into the Germany pavilion you will be completely overcome with the delicious aroma of Werther’s caramel. There is an entire shop dedicated to Wether’s caramel, and they sell freshly popped popcorn that they coat in melted caramel. If you think you know what caramel popcorn is, think again! We have never had caramel popcorn quite like this.

PRO-TIP: Wear a backpack! If you are going on a real dessert adventure, you’re going to run out of steam… and stomach space. The popcorn is sold in a wax-like bag with a sticker to seal, so this is perfect for later!

There are a lot of other caramel treats in this shop. The caramel tart and caramel apples are equally as amazing as the popcorn, but this is your PSA to stay away from the boozy caramel flights… They are laughably bad. The Cast Member tried to warn us… We should have listened.

School Bread

10 Best Desserts in EPCOT 6

Located in the Norway pavilion is a bakery that sells all types of rich and hearty pastries loaded with creams and goodness. We go for the School Bread because it’s a dessert that’s sweet, but not too sweet. You know those delicious dinner rolls at a restaurant that must not be named? We’ll give you a hint, it used to be famous for peanuts on the floor. Anyway – School Bread tastes like that bread filled with a slightly sweet custard and topped with toasted coconut.

School Bread has a funny name, and it’s history is not clear. But skolebrød, as it’s called in Norway (pronounced “school bread”, no joke), dates back to the 1950s. Mothers used to pack them in children’s lunches, but now the treat can be found in virtually every bakery in Norway.

Chocolate “Fiesta” Pyramid

While all of the other dessert items on this list have been quick service style, this one may require a reservation. The Chocolate “Fiesta” Pyramid is available at San Angel Inn and a party on a plate!

Just like Beaches and Cream has its over-the-top Kitchen Sink sundae, San Angel Inn has its Chocolate “Fiesta” Pyramid. Disney describes this dessert as A festively decorated Chocolate Pyramid filled with Mexican Chocolate Mousse and Toffee atop a traditional Tres Leches Cake. It’s served with streamers in the pyramid and 4 scoops of vanilla ice cream drizzled with caramel.

The Chocolate “Fiesta” Pyramid is HUGE and can easily accommodate 4 people. At $34, it’s not a bad deal either! This is considered a 50th Anniversary treat so you want to act fast!

Maple Popcorn

Yes, caramel popcorn already made the list, but there’s still room to add Maple Popcorn! Maybe we should institute that Maple Popcorn is the official breakfast popcorn, that way you can find ways to enjoy both on the same day.

Maple Popcorn is freshly popped popcorn that has a very very sweet glaze on it. If you’ve never had real maple syrup, you’re in for a real treat. Head on over to the Canada pavilion and find the popcorn cart there and say, “I’d like some Maple Popcorn, eh”.

PRO-TIP: You can use your souvenir popcorn bucket for the Maple Popcorn, too! If you purchase a souvenir popcorn bucket anywhere in any Disney park across the globe at any time you can refill it for a discounted price. This snack just got a whole lot sweeter knowing that you can get it for only $2, huh?

Sunshine Seasons

How have we made it this far into a Disney dessert article and not brought up a single cupcake? Sunshine Seasons is a Quick Service over in the land pavilion. If you didn’t get your fill of food over in the World Showcase, Sunshine Seasons will set you up, but we’re here to talk about the bakery case.

10 Best Desserts in EPCOT 7

This sleepy little Quick Service often has some of the best cupcakes and desserts that you wouldn’t expect out of this type of restaurant! Currently, they are featuring assorted sugar cookies, turtle brownie, strawberry shortcake, mini chocolate bundt cake, and a lemon chiffon cake with blueberry mousse. Sunshine Seasons also caters to our plant-based friends and offers plant-based cookies and cream mousse.

Les Halles Boulangerie

10 Best Desserts in EPCOT 8

Remember when we said France could do no wrong with desserts? That’s why we are including ALL of Les Halles Boulangerie on our list! Every day this bakery serves fresh croissants, pan au chocolate, and other pastries. In addition to those they have fresh fruit tarts, creme brulee, and of course, their famous macarons. Les Halles becomes an exercise in patience and will power because seriously, how do you choose, and also, there is always a line.

Can’t make up your mind but your stomach can literally only handle one more thing? Order the pastry for now, since it needs to be warm, and the macaron for later. Knowing that a lot of people love macarons and want to try them all, Les Halles sells 6 pack macaron packages. These are special packages so the delicate cookies won’t break, so you can bring them home… If you don’t eat them first!

You may never travel to France, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t sit at a bistro table by the Eiffel Tower and enjoy a coffee and pastry. Live out your French love dreams!
