To an average visitor at Disney Springs, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar is just a small hole-in-the-wall bar with great cocktails and a solid charcuterie board served in a giant pretzel, but to Indiana Jones fans, this is the Holy Grail of fandom props.
First, let’s talk food and drink because it’s thirsty work oohing and ahhing over the details!
Jock Lindsey’s Drinks
We’ll be honest, the drink menu was so interesting and fun that our group had a really hard time deciding what to try. We had heard how knowledgeable the Cast Members are here with their cocktails and that they are basically drink matchmakers, so we put it up to them based on our likes and dislikes, and we were not disappointed!
Whereas most Disney restaurants mainly feature drinks on the sweeter island vacation-vibe side, (Disney what is your obsession with Blue Curacao??) Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar has a variety of drinks that are vodka-based, bourbon-based, and ones that are, yes, fruity. Some of us like to taste the alcohol, some of us don’t.
Reggie’s Revenge
Disney describes this as a Florida Cane ‘Orlando Orange’ Vodka, Midori Melon Liqueur, White Cranberry Juice, and fresh Lime Juice, but we describe it as the Happy Hour Cocktail special that is on sale between 12:00 – 3:00 Monday through Friday.
If you like sweet cocktails but aren’t crazy for those premixed jobs that are akin to bad kool aid, then you will enjoy this. The Midori Melon Liqueur is sweet, but overpoweringly so, and pairs well with the orange vodka. The white cranberry and lime balance out the sweetness.
Mayor’s Reserve
This one is for you bourbon lovers out there who enjoy the taste of bourbon, but you love yourself, so you like to add other flavors as well. You can pour bourbon over ice at home. Indulge! This drink is described as Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Blackberry Brandy, Simple Syrup, and fresh Lemon Juice, but we describe it as perfection. It had a nice smooth burn and just a hint of sweetness. Putting it over the top was stealing the orange garnish from Reggie’s Revenge and twisting it into the drink!
Food
Rather than a full menu, Jock Lindsey’s features a small menu of snacking foods like tacos, flatbreads, sliders, and chocolate dipped bacon… Yeah, that goes a little left, doesn’t it. We’ll be honest, in the whole bar we only saw people ordering one thing over and over and over again…
Air Pirate’s Cargo Loaded Pretzel (A.K.A. The Charcuterie Pretzel) (A.K.A. The best charcuterie in Walt Disney World)
Did we just make that claim? Yup, we sure did! This is the best charcuterie board in Disney and you don’t even need a theme park ticket! Plus, it is literally in a giant pretzel. Disney describes this as Prosciutto, Sliced Brats, Artisan Pepperoni, Smoked Cheddar, Black Diamond Cheddar, Caraway Pickles, Spicy Mustard, and Beer Cheese Fondu. It is huge and easily shareable with a few friends!
Let’s Stop Fooling Ourselves…
You didn’t come to Indiana Jones’ personal pilot’s bar for the food. “Jock, start the plane!” The backstory is that Jock Lindsey, who was the pilot in Raiders of the Lost Ark, stumbles on to Disney Springs after helping Indie and decides to open a bar.
Originally Disney was going to make this Trader Sam’s, which is why there is a Jungle Cruise boat attached to the back! They rethemed it nicely by naming it Reggie, which as you know was Indiana Jones’ favorite animal… Jock Lindsey’s pet snake.
The whole restaurant is like a Where’s Waldo of nuggets from the film that you spend an hour just sipping drinks and trying to find the best!
Things to look for!
We don’t want to spoil the fun by telling you exactly where to look, but we will give you the list of things to find!
- The Fertility Idol from Raiders of the Lost Ark: Remember that statue in the opening scene that he needs to immediately replace with a bag of sand that weighs the same? Yeah, that idol!
- Indiana Jones’ satchel
- Indiana Jones’ lucky Zippo lighter from The Last Crusade
- Map of all of the places where the adventures take place: Okay, this is a super easy find, but go up and look closely at the symbols!
- New York Yankees cap: Remember little Short Round?
- Lost and Found Locker: In it is something that might have helped show Indie where the Ark of the Covenant is buried
- Stay at the Lost and Found: There is the large diamond, the Peacock’s Eye, from the Temple of Doom
Fun Fact:
The actor who played Jock Lindsey was actually a real pilot. He was actually hired to fly cast and crew to different locations, but also picked up the role as Jock. This was very Harrison Ford style of discovery, huh! While this was the only film the pilot ever starred in, he still maintained a relationship with the director, someone you might have heard of – Steven Spielberg.
A few years later, Spielberg was in Hawaii filming Jurassic Park and he and the crew became stranded because of a storm. He asked “Jock” to fire up those engines again, and he flew out to the island to rescue everyone. Spielberg gifted the pilot a dinosaur tooth and a note that says, “Thanks for getting us off the island.” You can see this gift framed on the wall right as you come into the bar.
Final Thoughts
Overall, part of us wishes that this was right next door to Indiana Jones’ Stunt Spectacular in Hollywood Studios because we got all pumped up on Indie, but the other half is always thrilled to find fun that doesn’t require a Disney Theme Park ticket. This is an awesome bar to come have a drink and snack at and see what you can find. If you have an Indiana Jones fan, watch the movies before you go!
No reservations are required, so just walk on in! Just don’t set off any ancient curses…
Traveling in November or December? Be sure to check out Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar with festive drinks and jolly snacks!
I am a mother of three that has refused to grow up. Adulting is for the birds, so I go to Disney World every chance I get for that magical escape from reality. I believe that Haunted Mansion is the best ride in all of the Disney Parks, and I am fervently in team Happily Ever After for fireworks spectaculars, (sorry, not sorry, Enchanted). Finally, I hope I never grow tired of skipping down Main Street, USA, and my dream come true would be “friends with” the Fairy Godmother in my old age.
