There is so much to see and do at Disney World some days I feel like it is impossible to do it all. Which got me thinking what attractions and experiences have I missed at Disney World despite being a Disney local? It surprised me when I was able to list off quite a few things around Disney World. It got me thinking about what is commonly overlooked or unknown experiences that people should do at Disney. So here are ten interesting things you probably have missed at Disney World!
1. Learn about Terracotta Warriors
Be sure to check out the replica of the Terracotta Army. The figures, dating from 210 BC, were discovered in 1974 by some local farmers near Xi’an, Shaanxi province, China near the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor. The Terracotta Warrior army contains 197 replicas that are one-third-scale replicas of the real army. Each warrior is unique and likely cast after actual members of the Emperors’ army.
2. Affection Section at Rafiki’s Planet Watch
Head to the back of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park and you can find a train that will take you to Rafiki’s Planet Watch! Yes, there is a train in the Animal Kingdom. The often missed affection section of Rafiki’s is a spot where you can pet, brush and feed animals. Some of the creatures you can get up close and personal with here include goats, sheep, donkeys, cows, and pigs.
3. Chip and Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long at Fort Wilderness
Head over to Fort Wilderness and hang with Chip and Dale and roast up some s’mores. After the sing-along, you will want to stick around for a Disney movie under the stars. This surely will be a night your family won’t soon forget.
4. YeeHaw Bob
This comedian is well-loved and performs at the Port Orleans Riverside resort for over nineteen years now! You can find him on select evenings in the River Roost Lounge. Yee Haw Bob rocks the lounge audience with his wacky piano and entertaining comedy.
5. Paths Around the Tree of Life
These walking paths at the Animal Kingdom provide a unique vantage point to enjoy the more than 325 animal carvings on the Tree of Life. But the walking paths also take you out of the hustle and bustle and offer a chance to slow down and soak in the magic of Animal Kingdom. If you are just looking to quickly cut across the park it connects the area just in front of Africa on Discovery Island to the area just in front of Asia across from Adventurers Outpost.
6. Shortcut from Space Mountain to Storybook Circus
This perfect photo spot is located in an alcove along a pathway that leads from Tomorrowland to the right side of the castle. Cinderella’s Wishing Well is a wonderful retreat from the often hectic Magic Kingdom and gives you unique views. Be sure to bring a penny and make a wish!
8. Breakfast in France
Did you know that Les Halles in the back of the France pavilion is open at 9 am? That’s two hours earlier than the other World Showcase dining options. Not a lot of people realize that they can even grab a bite to eat early here so it’s a quiet spot to stop and eat. Plus the food here is delicious.
9. Citizens of Hollywood
When you enter into Hollywood Studios you may notice some peculiar people roaming around. These people are actually fantastic entertainment that I always love to stop and watch. Keep your eyes peeled as you enter and on Sunset Boulevard, you never know when you might happen upon one of their shows!
10. Take a Picture at the Purple Wall
On your way into Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom, you may notice a purple wall. This wall has become insta-famous (at least that’s what the kids are saying). If you want to be super trendy be sure you snap a photo here with your ice-cold Starbucks drink. For more picture, perfect Instagram spots read our post on the famous Disney World walls.
