The Big Pink: Simpsons Donut at Universal

The Big Pink: Simpsons Donut at Universal

If you have ever seen a single episode of The Simpsons, then you know that Homer Simpson, one of the main characters, is a big fan of donuts and beer. Odd combination, but we’re not here to judge. Well, did you know that you can actually get the notorious Homer Simpson donut over at Universal Studios in Orlando? In fact, you can live out all of your Simpson dreams, but that’s an article for another day.

What is “The Big Pink”?

In the over 30 years of the Simpsons being on the air we have watched Homer reach for that pink box. His fingers would always wiggle with excitement over the box before picking out just the perfect donut.

The perfect donut was always a glazed cake donut with pink frosting and rainbow sprinkles.

“The Big Pink” was a donut inspired by Homer’s donut, only this time it’s so big that you won’t be picking it up with a single finger. “The Big Pink” is definitely a fork-and-knife situation.

It’s so big that it requires its own box!

This donut is Homer Simpson approved and shall be henceforth referred to as the “Simpson Donut”.

How big is the Simpsons Donut?

The donut at Universal Studios may look like the one in the cartoon in style and color, but it is nothing like what you see on TV! “The Big Pink” Simpson Donut is larger than life donut that spans 8”. That is a donut that is the size of your face. Let that sink in…

This is not a 1 donut per person type of snack! This donut will easily feed between 2-4 people.

How much does the Simpsons Donut cost?

Considering the size of the donut and the nostalgia of it, the Simpsons Donut is very reasonably priced at $9.99. The donut even comes in a resealable box so you can store it for later.

The Simpsons Donut is the best value snack in Universal Studios! If you split this donut with at least 2 people, it’s only $5 per person! Trust us, you will be so full if you eat half.

Where can you find the Simpsons Donut?

The Simpsons Donut, “The Big Pink” is available in true Simpsons style at Lard Lad in Simpsons Land in Universal Studios. That’s right! There’s an entire land in Universal Studios devoted to the Simpsons.

It’s almost like the land is broken up into 2 parts – The first part where Lard Lad Donuts is located is the “realistic” section. Everything here is just like the cartoon! Take a picture with Chief Wiggum, or a selfie with the statue of Jebediah Springfield, and even visit the Kwik E Mart complete with graffiti from El Barto!

The second part of The Simpsons land is centered around the Simpsons attraction. The Simpsons attraction is a 3D simulator ride where America’s favorite family is on vacation at a big expensive theme park. (We love how the characters essentially are making fun of Universal Studios while being an attraction in the park.) When you walk out of the attraction there are Simpsons themed carnival games and a ride.

In The Simpsons, Lard Lad is iconic for being the home of Homer’s favorite donuts. How do you know if you found the place? Maybe the massive statue that is a play on the “Big Boy” statue holding a huge pink donut. This statue is over 20 feet high, so you’ll definitely have no trouble finding it.

The Simpsons

The Simpsons is America’s longest-running cartoon, celebrating its 34th season just this September. The Simpsons sent shockwaves from the time it first aired on December 17, 1989 being the first cartoon created specifically for adult entertainment. People were outraged at the son’s crude humor and delinquent activity, the father’s lack of parenting skills and an apparent drinking problem, and the mother just letting it all happen. And yet…

The outrage calmed over time because society realized that the Simpsons was the first show that featured a realistic American family! Thirty-three years later the Simpsons is surrounded by tradition, nostalgia, one-liners, and conspiracy theories, and it looks like they are here to stay until the end of time.
