Il Mulino Dining Review

Il Mulino Dining Review

Il Mulino is an Italian dining spot at the Swan Hotel at Walt Disney World. You can only dine here for dinner and there is also a bar that is open until 11 pm that features live entertainment on select nights. At Il Mulino, you will find authentic cuisine from the Abruzzi region of Italy. This Italian eatery also has locations outside of Disney World, mainly in New York City. Here you can enjoy handmade pasta or a handcrafted artisan pizza. Let’s take a look at our full Il Mulino review.

A Tour Around Il Mulino

A look at Il Mulino at Swan Hotel in Walt Disney World.

The entrance to Il Mulino is tucked in the back of Disney World’s Swan hotel. It has a beautiful modern inspired decor.

Inside Il Mulino

When you walk in you have to completely go by the bar area to check in. This is where we got our validation for parking as well. Keep the validation ticket safe because you will need it to get out the self-park area for free. You can also valet for free when eating here just be sure to tell them when you drop your car off.

I also was intrigued that you could look straight into the kitchen via the big glass windows in the back. I would have loved to be seated at one of the tables right up against the glass.

Seating Inside Il Mulino

We got seated in the back of the restaurant and had lots of great outside lighting. As you can see the modern decor is carried throughout the restaurant.

Il Mulino Menu

Dishes from Il Mulino

Here is a look at the dishes we tried from our dinner at Il Mulino!

Grapefruit Drink

This was one of the grapefruit cocktails from the menu. Unfortunately, I was slacking on the job and forgot to write down the name. My friend said the drink was good. I think it took some excellent pictures, don’t you?

Starter at Il Mulino

First brought out was a plate of complimentary Antipasti of dried, cured Sausage and Eggplant Roasted with Vegetables, both of which were amazing and the plate disappeared at our table very quickly. Two different types of bread also came out with this but that disappeared before I could even get a picture. The bread was the perfect base to spread the eggplant on!

Calamari App

I wasn’t expecting the fried zucchini to come out with our calamari as well. It was a perfect pairing that I had never experienced before. Really loved this dish and the sauce was a perfect pairing, two thumbs up on this.

Pepperoni Pizza

A classic pepperoni pizza! This one was a hit everyone kept sneaking some pizza from my friend’s plate. Great pizza and dare I say better than Blaze, which seems to be what we compare all pizza against around here!

Vitello Parmigiana

This dish is Vitello Parmigiana. My friend said it wasn’t super great and was really lacking flavor.

Pollo Parmigiana

The chicken parmesan is a giant piece of just that. It’s served just as the chicken so if you’re used to the more Americanized dish that comes with pasta be warned. This is similar to how both Via Napoli and Maria and Enzio’s serves it. Outside of that this was a standard chicken parmesan dish nothing that blow us away.

Flourless Chocolate Cake

Are you drooling over this flourless chocolate cake? If you are a chocolate lover this one is for you.

Sorbet Trio

The sorbet was a surprising delight. Sometimes it can just get kind of dull and boring but the lemon one was amazing. This trio of sorbet consisted of raspberry, blood orange and lemon.

Il Mulino Review Recommendation

Something we haven’t mention yet is there is also live music on Friday and Saturday evenings! There was a small band with a singer in the bar area and they were very good. Overall here the food was alright and our service could have been a whole lot better. The meal started off positive but by the end, we were in a never-ending hunt to find our waiter.

We wanted dessert but it was a never-ending circle again of trying to get menus and just even put in our order. We had a problem again trying to get one of our two waiters again when we wanted checks after dessert was finished. Luckily I was with a couple of fantastic friends and we were having a great time catching up. I just think for the price and the fact we had two servers that we wouldn’t have had to wait so long for the bill and dessert.

Another side note, this restaurant was freezing cold on the night we visited so be sure to bring a sweater with you.
