Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s newest edition is Pandora – The World of Avatar. This new land is inspired by Academy-award winning filmmaker James Cameron’s box-office hit, “AVATAR.” The 12-acre land will immerse guests in the lush world of Pandora about a generation after the film’s human-Na’vi conflicts. I was proud of myself for having finally watched the film, Avatar, just before the opening of this new Animal Kingdom expansion. If you haven’t seen it yet I highly recommend it but it’s definitely not necessary to enjoy this new planet. Let’s take a look at what to expect at Animal Kingdom’s Pandora the World of Avatar.
Avatar Flight of Passage
This high-tech adventure offers a thrilling flight through the jungles and floating mountains, and over the majestic oceans of this colorful world. This attraction allows you to experience what it is like to fly on a Banshee. You may even spot some familiar faces from the movie Avatar. If you want more read our in-depth review What to Expect on Avatar Flight of Passage, warning it does contain spoilers!
Na’vi River Journey
The following is Disney’s official description of this boat ride.
Climb aboard a reed boat and soon you’ll see that on the sacred Kaspavan River, every moment tells a story, and every bend sings a song. This expedition into the rainforest deep within the Valley of Mo’ara will take you right into the middle of Pandora and Na’vi culture. Traveling into the darkest part of the forest, you’ll find yourself surrounded by a canopy of exotic glowing plants and amazing animals on the move. Listen closely and you’ll hear the Na’vi Shaman of Songs as she fills the forest with beautiful music about the sacred bond between nature and ourselves.
This dining location features international-inspired cuisine, vegetarian options, and specialty drinks. From the latest menu unveiled over at DisneyWorld.com, it appears to be heavily focused on healthy options. Similar to Chipotle you can build your own “bowl” of food. Even the pickiest eater in our family found something to enjoy. The cheeseburger pods were the biggest surprise, they tasted just like a McDonald’s burger. Read our in-depth review on the Satu’li Canteen here.
Pongu Pongu means “Party Party” in the language of the Na’vi. This new drink location welcomes weary travelers to try a bioluminescent frozen cocktail (Night Blossom) or indigenous beers. The main feature seems to be a sweet treat, pictured above, that you won’t find anywhere else! The Pongo Lumpia is a pineapple and cream cheese-filled spring roll finished off with a sprinkle of sugar.
Windtraders is the place to shop for all your exclusive Pandora goodies. That’s right, you can only get these items at this one location. If you want to get items ahead of your trip you can order them on shopDisney.com. They do only have select items from Pandora but that does include the Banshee!

I have been visiting the parks annually since my parents first brought me at just a year old. Recently I was able to fulfill my life long dream of being a Florida local and moved from the wintery Northeast to the sunshine and fun of central Florida. Now I am hoping to share my Disney knowledge with you so you can have the best vacation possible!
