Gone are the days of scrambling to get Fastpasses. Disney has announced Fastpass will retire and in its place with be Disney Genie Service. Coming this fall to Walt Disney World Resort, Disney Genie is a complimentary and convenient new digital service designed to create your best Disney day. Built right into the My Disney Experience app, the Disney Genie service will maximize your park time. It includes a personalized itinerary feature that will quickly and seamlessly map out an entire day. From specific attractions, foodie experiences and entertainment, to general interests like Disney princesses, villains, Pixar, Star Wars, thrill rides, and more. Simply just tell Disney Genie what you want to do and it will do the planning for you.
Disney Genie+
Disney Genie+ service (available for purchase): For the price of $15 per ticket per day at Walt Disney World Resort, you can choose the next available time to arrive at a variety of attractions and experiences using the Lightning Lane entrance.
You can make one selection at a time, throughout the day. If you have been to Disneyland it is structured very similar to the Max Pass option that used to exist out there.
Attractions that Qualify
We don’t have the full list just yet. But we can expect options from classics like Haunted Mansion to thrill rides like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and newer favorites like Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (attractions subject to limited availability).
Virtual Queues
Does this mean there will no longer be virtual queues for really popular brand new attractions? Fear not, virutal queues will still remain for Rise of the Resistence in Hollywood Studios and as well as Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure when it opens in October. And best of all virtual queues will remain free. Miss out on a virtual queue you will be able to also purchase a paid al a cart option. Read on to find out more!
Al a Cart Option
Individual attraction selections (available for purchase): Schedule a time to arrive at up to two highly demanded attractions each day using the Lightning Lane entrance. An example, at Magic Kingdom you could pick Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (subject to limited availability; attractions not included with Disney Genie+). Pricing for this option will vary by date, attraction, and park and will be announced closer to launch.
Note that the rides that fall into this cateogory are not included in Disney Genie +. So if you want to skip all the lines you will need to buy Disney Genie + and Lightening Lane passes al a cart as well. We don’t have the pricing on the single passes so we are unsure how much this will total just yet.
Lightning Lane selections will be made on the same day of your visit and can be used across multiple theme parks, great for those who love the Park Hopper option. Attractions continue to offer a traditional standby queue, or a virtual queue at certain attractions like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – to maximize flexibility.
Disability Access Service – DAS Pass
Enhancements are being made to the Disability Access Service (DAS) program, including new options to enroll in the program pre-arrival and for DAS participants to select attractions directly in the app. These options will be available in addition to our existing, in-person DAS program. Visit Services for Guests with Disabilities page DisneyWorld.com for more details.

Conclusion on Disney Genie
Of course it’s a bummer to her Fastpass is moving to an all paid option with Disney Genie. I think though we all saw this coming with International parks launching similar programs. Plus let’s not forget for years Universal Studios has always had a paid only Fastpass option.

I have been visiting the parks annually since my parents first brought me at just a year old. Recently I was able to fulfill my life long dream of being a Florida local and moved from the wintery Northeast to the sunshine and fun of central Florida. Now I am hoping to share my Disney knowledge with you so you can have the best vacation possible!
