Boatwright’s Dining Hall Review

Boatwright’s Dining Hall Review

Boatwright’s Dining Hall is located over at Port Orleans Riverside Resort in Walt Disney World. Following the theme of the rest of the hotel, you can find southern cooking with a focus on New Orleans, Cajun cuisine. When looking for this restaurant you will find it nestled in between Riverside’s quick service dining hall and the River Roost Lounge.

A Look Around Boatwright’s Dining Hall

Inside you find yourself stepping into the theme that you are at a shipyard. Most noticeably is the giant boat hanging from the ceiling. It’s a great way to spot the restaurant inside of Riverside. The check-in podium is right off to the bottom left of the picture.

This isn’t the only seating you will find at Boatwright’s Dining Hall. There is also some upper smaller rooms that carry on that shipyard vibe. I also loved we were seated back in this area as it was quieter and more secluded.

If you take a close look at the walls you will notice they are filled with boat building tools and supplies. One wall was covered in blueprint plans for building a boat.

All the meals at Boatwright’s start with this delicious basket of cornbread. The cornbread is paired with a whipped butter that spreads perfectly without crumbling your cornbread. It’s a yummy start to your meal and tempting to fill up on, but that would be bad since you would miss out on your meal.

Strip Steak Boatwrights

My husband went with the strip steak but was unsure of the crawfish mac and cheese. So he asked to swap out to regular mac and cheese. What he got to my surprise was the kid’s mac and cheese. I thought he would get the same mac and cheese I got with my platter.

Since I was being my usual indecisive self I went with the All You Care to Enjoy Chef’s Platter. It’s a big old plate with a little of everything. I felt like it was way too much food for anyone but hey when in Disney right?!

The platter is served with Ribs, Nashville Hot Chicken, Smoked Sausage, Barbecued Beef Brisket with Mashed Potatoes, Macaroni & Cheese, Street Corn, and Green Beans.

In the end, I found myself mostly just eating the chicken, green beans, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes. This made me think I should have just gotten the chicken by itself. Next time I will know now though right?!

Boatwrights Creme Brulee

Of course, once this was spotted on the dessert menu I knew we would be getting it. My husband loves creme brulee but the other dessert options did have him questioning if he should branch out and try something different. It was your standard creme brulee nothing too exciting here. My dessert recommendation would be to take a walk over to Port Orleans French Quarter and have the beignets they serve up in their quick service location.

Overall Recommendation for Boatwright’s Dining Hall

I would say we enjoyed our meal here but we are in no rush to head back here again. If you are staying at the resort and looking for a spot to enjoy a nicer meal it is worth a stop in. If you are looking for a place to eat that is off the beaten path and not going to be crammed full this would be a great pick for you.
