Okay if you are reading this you are probably like me and waiting on your acceptance letter to Hogwarts. Sadly, I don’t think it’s coming, however, that is the joy of being able to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Even if you don’t own your own owl you can still send your mail via owl! Here at Universal Orlando, you have two options for sending your mail via owl post. There are Owl Post locations in both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. So let’s take a look at how you can send your own mail via owl post!
Buying your Mail for Owl Post
We decided to stop in at the owl post spot on the Hogsmeade side in Islands of Adventure. You can find this open-air spot on the right, right after you enter into the village. If you hit Olivander’s shop you have gone too far. While you are here be sure to look up and check out the owls waiting to send out your post.
At this shop, you can buy all sorts of writing supplies! This is where I got my multi-pack of postcards, stamps, and postmark. But they also had plenty of other options. Including notebooks, notecards, and journals. My favorite was they even had a howler that you could send out! Ya know, if you are really made with someone this would be the perfect gift.
Getting your Hogsmeade Postmark
Once you get the items you want to mail, be sure to open them right up and get them postmarked! This means if you really want, you don’t even have to mail your postcard back home you can get them prestamped with the Hogsmeade postmark.
If you are trying to save some money, bring your own postcards or letters from home. You can write a letter, bring your own stamp, and get the Hogsmeade postmark on letters 100% FREE! It’s a great scrapbook and souvenir with so much potential with this fun activity.
Mailing Packages from the Wizarding World
If you want to send something larger than a letter you can mail that too! Owl post now offers packaging service and custom gift wrapping. There are two different levels of packaging. The basic level includes different colored twine (colored after the different Hogwarts houses) and stamps. The deluxe level includes wrapping in wax paper and a seal. The cost starts at $20 and goes up to $25.
Before you get too excited are a lot of restrictions compared to sending a letter. Addresses must be in the US and only Harry Potter-related items can be shipped. Plus, not all of the associated items are eligible. Food, brooms, and walking sticks are not suitable for owl mail.
So are you ready to mail out something via owl post? Let us know if you have done this or plan to in the comment section below.
I have been visiting the parks annually since my parents first brought me at just a year old. Recently I was able to fulfill my life long dream of being a Florida local and moved from the wintery Northeast to the sunshine and fun of central Florida. Now I am hoping to share my Disney knowledge with you so you can have the best vacation possible!

Do they sell Harry Potter post card stamps or are they only regular price stamps at the owl post? Wondering if we should get post card stamps at home if they don't sell them and save 20 cents per card :)
