The fun of going to Disney World does not just happen at Disney itself. Today many people enjoy the countdown to their Disney vacation just as much. Some families create chain link countdowns or make a special calendar, while others download Disney World countdown apps on their smartphones.
Countdown for Disney
One of the most popular apps, and the one my family uses, is called “Countdown for Disney”. It was created by BT3Computing. This app is available on Apple and Android. The app is very user friendly. You can use one of their pre-set photos or you can upload your own photo to use as your background countdown. Then you simply type in the date your Disney trip begins and you are done! Another great feature of this app is there are a few buttons on the bottom that give additional information that might be useful to your trip.
For example, it provides the weather forecast and radar information for Orlando and also provides Disney News. The daily news posted gives up to date information that Disney just published such as releasing menus for Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival. Most users love their daily Disney information and it makes them even more eager for their upcoming trip. Another pro for this app is that it is completely free. You can pay $.99 to avoid pop-ups but since all the features are free there is really no need to.
Days to Go WBD Countdown to your Disney Vacation To Go app
Another great option is “Days to Go WDW Countdown to your Disney Vacation To Go” created by Joe Fratianni. This app is more basic. When you log on you have the ability to change the picture, put in your Disney vacation date, and also change the font.
Something really cool about this app is it will appear on your iPhone screen with a popup that indicates how many days you have left so you don’t even have to open up the app itself. You can also set reminders right in the app for yourself. You can set reminders for important information such as your dining reservation window or when your Fastpass+ preferences are available.
Countdown for Disney World
“Countdown for Disney World” by Ethan Brimhall is rather new for Apple phones. This app has many of the same features the other apps have such as the ability to change the wallpaper with pre-set photos or upload your own photos, edit the countdown title, change text color and obviously the ability to input your vacation start date. However, this app personally sets up notifications when you are 180 days out for dining, 60 days, and 30 days out for Fastpass+ reservations notices.
Unlike the previous app where you have to input reminders for these items yourself, this one makes it easier and less work for the user. Another fun feature is you can have Disney-type music play whenever you open the app. I will say the home screen of this app is very clean and higher quality than the other apps.
Since the app was created in 2019, there have been reports of a few kinks that still need to be worked out, but I feel in the future this will be one of the highest-ranked apps. This app is only available on Apple devices.
WDW Vacation Countdown to Disney World Trip
“WDW Vacation Countdown to Disney World Trip” created by Ricky Mills is another app I want to highlight. One of the best features of this app is that it not only counts down the days for you but also the hours, minutes, and seconds. You have over 50 pre-set photos you can choose from for your background.
The downside to this app is that you can’t upload your own photos, and although it shows hours, minutes, and seconds, you can’t set a set time such as your flight to Disney. It simply counts down to the day not a specific time that day. Additionally, the countdown takes up 1/3 of the picture which some users don’t like.
“WDW Countdown” by RLR Concepts provides users with the ability to see the weather and days remaining until their trip on the icon without even clicking on the app itself.
Unlike “WDW Vacation Countdown to Disney World Trip”, this app actually lets you put in the exact time and date you are departing for your Disney trip. So if your flight is at 10:02 a.m. you can directly put that time into the app.
Additionally, the application gives you the current forecast in Orlando. One downside to this app is that you are not allowed to upload your own photos as your background.
Conclusion on Disney Countdown Apps
As you can see, there are many Disney countdown apps out there to choose from. Pick the one that fits your needs the best and get ready to wake up and feel the joy that you are one day closer to a fabulous vacation. Be sure to share your Disney countdown in the comment section below!
I have a background in elementary education, biology, and travel. Disney has always been a passion of mine since I was first there with my family when I was three years old. The joy and happiness it brings to people is just magical. As a result, we became Disney Vacation Club Members which has allowed us to visit often and with our large extended family. I hope to pass on my knowledge and experience of Disney World to others in order to make their trip flawless and one they will never forget.
