The Plaza Restaurant is on the right corner of the end of Main Street USA behind the Ice Cream Parlor in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. It’s a tiny little place to enjoy a sit-down meal and I feel like a lot of people miss that it is even there. It’s a very high traffic area with the popularity of the ice cream parlor to the purple wall which is a little bit further down the walkway into Tomorrowland. While this never makes a must-eat Disney dining list it’s definitely not an option to overlook. Let’s take a look at our full the Plaza restaurant review.

A Tour Around The Plaza
A look at the inside of The Plaza restaurant at the Magic Kingdom.
This restaurant continues on Main Streets Victorian theming and has lots of elegant details to uncover. There is detail in everything from the lighting, carpet to the wallpaper.
It can be hard to get a reservation here since the restaurant is so tiny. It’s just a small corner with probably 30 tables or less inside for guests. Inside it features turn-of-the-century decor which of course pairs perfectly with the vibe of Main Street USA. If you have been over to the Grand Floridian it is very similarly themed.
Due to the small nature of the restaurant and some less than ideal soundproofing it can get quite loud in here. We went just before closing so we were happy to find the restaurant almost completely empty out as fireworks started. Then my husband and I were able to enjoy a fantastic fireworks show in the air conditioning in some relative quiet.
Dishes from The Plaza
Here is a look at the dishes we tried from our dinner at the Plaza.
Grilled Chicken Breast
My husband went with the Grilled Chicken Breast. It is topped with Bacon, Rémoulade, Bruschetta, Provolone, and Arugula served on a Brioche Bun with choice of Seasonal Vegetables, Homemade Chips, or French Fries. He said it was fantastic and the bruschetta was the perfect complement to the chicken.
Philly Cheesesteak
I went with my comfort food go-to a Philly Cheesesteak! It’s Shaved Beef grilled with Onions, Mushrooms, Red Peppers, and White American Cheese served on a Hoagie Roll with a choice of Seasonal Vegetables, Homemade Chips, or French Fries. It was cooked perfectly and had tons of flavor.
Roast Beef Au Jus
House-cooked Roast Beef, Caramelized Onions and Peppers, Horseradish Sauce on a Toasted Sub Roll, and served with Au Jus for Dipping. On our last trip, I didn’t see a Philly cheesesteak on the menu, they had this again it was a good alternative and the dipping sauce was a perfect pairing.
10-oz New York Strip Steak
A grilled-to-order 10-oz New York Strip Steak seasoned with an In-house Season blend and basted with Garlic Butter, served with tender Broccolini and a Cheesy-Bacon Twice-baked Potato. This was a big letdown. The meat was so thin it was really cooked well done. Overall it’s a shame this item didn’t work out since it is the only item worth ordering to make your Disney Dining Plan credit worth use it here.
Kentucky Turkey Hot Brown Sandwich
A new item on the menu is the Kentucky Turkey Hot Brown Sandwich. Lightly-battered grilled Texas Toast layered with Oven-roasted Turkey Breast, Bacon, Seasoned Grilled Tomato smothered with our Creamy Boursin® Cheese, topped with melted Parmesan and Fresh Chives.
Plaza Turkey Club
This mega-club sandwich is loaded with Roasted Turkey, House-made Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, and Mayonnaise on Toasted Sourdough Bread. This was a great option that was just a little different from the standard quick service fair that is at other Magic Kingdom spots.
Milkshakes
Of course the second my husband saw All-You-Care-To-Enjoy Milk Shake there was no stopping him. That’s right he got free refills on his shake and every time it could even be a different flavor. They were nice enough to even encourage me to help him out. The flavors to choose from are the following, Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, or Mint Chocolate Chip.
Plaza Restuarant Pros and Cons
Pros:
- A fantastic spot to stop and cool off, pricing compareble to quick service
- You can catch a view of the fireworks from inisde the Plaza
- Offer fantastic views of the castle
- Food comes out quickly, not an overly long meal here
Cons:
- A very limited menu, make sure you check it out before you dine here
- Due to it’s small size it get quiet loud inside this location
The Plaza Dining Review Recommendation
What I love most about the Plaza is that it offers affordable dining at Disney World. With the sandwiches on the menu costing $15-$20, you can get a great meal for just a few bucks more than a sandwich over at Cosmic Rays in Tomorrowland. This is also a great stop for celebrations! On another occasion when we ate here the Mayor came in to sing happy birthday to the table next to us.
If you are looking for a special moment like that I recommend stopping in the middle of the day when the citizens of Main Street are out and about and popping into the Plaza. If you are stopping in here the real deal is getting some dessert, it’s from the ice cream shop next door. The shakes here are a must-do complement to your meal! I have many childhood pictures of me delighted as I talked my dad into letting me get a shake.

I have been visiting the parks annually since my parents first brought me at just a year old. Recently I was able to fulfill my life long dream of being a Florida local and moved from the wintery Northeast to the sunshine and fun of central Florida. Now I am hoping to share my Disney knowledge with you so you can have the best vacation possible!
