If you are headed for a trip into space on the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser you can actually schedule a session to look like you are from another planet. One of the extra activities offered on the Galactic Starcruiser is Image Design. This is essentially an in-room face painting experience. It lets you take up your Star Wars cosplay to a new level.
How to Book Image Design Face Painting
Personally, I booked my whole experience with my Magical Travel agent. So when they announced this experience just before our adventure to space I asked her to book it. Sadly, at the time of our voyage face painting was only offered at 1 pm and later. With our early morning photo session, I would have loved to have it done but it didn’t work out.
Alternatively, you can call a Galactic Starcruiser Specialist at (407) 939-1800 to add this activity between 60 days and 1 day before your Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser voyage. Limited availability.
The Cost of Image Design
For one session of Image Design the cost was a total of $134.52 (includes gratuities). The session is up to 30 minutes. I didn’t have a full face of makeup and the whole thing was done in under 20 minutes.
Image Design Options
When the artist arrived I was asked to choose which design option I would like from a board they handed me. These are it and you can’t ask for something fully custom. However, what was cool was they could tweak the colors slightly or add a little more.
Here is a look at the other side. There are 14 face painting options in all. Not that a full face color is not a Batuu-approved option. This means if you pick a design without the blue Batuu logo you can’t go to Batuu.
I ended up picking the Theelin option. They did customize it slightly by extending the dot portion down my neck. Which did end up partly rubbing off since I ignored their comments and wore a high neck item briefly during the night.
Process of Image Design Face Painting
They recommended arriving back to your room 15 minutes before your scheduled start time. For me, they did show up five minutes early and dove right into getting started.
The whole time I was fascinated with this cart set up they had. They come with the cart and set up a fold-out chair reminiscent of a movie set style director chair. Then they used some sandbags to hold the door to the room open. They did leave the door open the entire time they were there.
The makeup was applied with paintbrushes, water, and pigment. When I saw she was using water to apply I was like oh no way is this going to stay it has to be more like kid’s face paint. I was wrong however, one of my fellow space travelers showed me the stage makeup a friend of hers uses and it looked identical.
Here is a look at the finished product! What I wish I had done, removed necklaces… it rubs the paint off. Then if you have a makeup setting spray like Urban Decay’s All Nighter I recommend a quick spritz. You will see in the final comments, that my makeup didn’t entirely make it to the end of the night.

Important Things to Know Before Your Image Design
- Look for the blue “Batuu Approved” symbol in the species design examples if you’d like to wear a look in the parks, where only partial face covering is allowed.
- The makeover experience will take place at the entry area within your cabin.
- The cabin door will remain open during the transformation.
- This is a face paint experience and does not include any costumes depicted in sample images.
- Guests should arrive at their cabin 15 minutes prior to their service time.
- Transformations take approximately 30 minutes.
- The full price of the service will be charged if canceled within 48 hours of the appointment time or for no-shows.
- Participating Guests must be 7 years of age or older.
- A parent or guardian must be present during the entire experience for all participants under 18 years of age.
Costume Guidelines for Face Paint
We wouldn’t want you to miss out on any of the fun at Black Spire Outpost, so please remember that only partial face covering is allowed there and in the parks. Review of Starcruiser Image Design
In an already super busy schedule on the Galactic Starcruiser, Image Design was a little hard to fit in. With that said it was at the same time nice to just chill and get a break for 20 minutes and have my makeup done. Just keep the time factor in mind if you have a lot of other things you want to do on the ship, Image Design may not be the best for you.
If you are looking to have your Image Design done on Batuu excursion day, it was good to have it scheduled for after. I am sure that makeup wouldn’t have lasted all the way to the end of the day. In fact just from running around the ship, mistakenly touching my face, the makeup was smudged and ready to come off when we finally got back in our room around midnight on day two. It was a chore to get off and I forgot to scrub my neck so it was still showing a bit the next morning. If you or your kids are planning on doing this I highly recommend bringing the magical Green Clean from Farmacy. If you don’t they do have free makeup wipes available in the metal tin in your bathroom.
