Grand Floridian Cafe Dining Review

Grand Floridian Cafe Dining Review

Grand Floridian Cafe is one of those underrated Disney World restaurants you rarely hear about. Located at the Grand Floridian, it does have a lot of other acclaimed restaurants to contend with like Victoria and Albert’s and Narcoossee’s. Not only is the food here fantastic but it remains one of those great values for dining, that is only if you are paying out-of-pocket. There are many dishes on the menu that remain under the $20 price point. If you are on the Disney Dining Plan you may want to skip this stop unless of course, everyone in your family plans on eating the strip steak off the menu, which wouldn’t be a bad idea actually!

The atmosphere here is like much of the rest of the Grand Floridian, Victorian details, bright and airy atmosphere. The times I have stopped in to dine here it hasn’t been overly crowded or noisy. Plus the service has always been top-notch!  Now let’s get into some of the nitty-gritty of the Grand Floridian Cafe!

A Look Around the Grand Floridian Cafe

Entrance into the Grand Floridian Cafe.

As you can see this restaurant is light bright and airy. It carries on the Victorian feel of the rest of the Grand Floridian as well. We love being able to get a window spot and people watch everyone outside.

Grand Floridian Cafe Dishes

The following are a few of the dishes we have tried from their menu.

Lobster Benedict

Lobster Benedict

This brunch/breakfast dish includes Two-poached Eggs, Toasted English Muffin, Lobster, Hollandaise, and Marinated Tomato Salad.

Mickey Waffle

Mickey Shaped Waffle

Another breakfast option! A Mickey Waffle is normally always a Disney win. Here at the Grand Floridian Cafe, they are a little extra special though. These waffles are served with Bacon or Sausage. Add Strawberry, Blueberry, Banana, Chocolate Chip, or Pecan. The toppings really make the waffle!

French Toast

Grand Floridian Cafe Dining Review 2

As a general rule, I find you can never go wrong with some good old French toast. Of course at the Grand Floridian, they have to take it up a notch with the Brioche French Toast. It is a Madagascar vanilla bean-scented brioche French toast with bacon or sausage.

The Grand Breakfast

If you are looking for a delicious spin on a classic breakfast go with The Grand Breakfast! It comes with two eggs, bacon, sausage, and cheesy-hash brown casserole.

The Cafe Sandwich

Miso-Glazed Salmon

Salmon

Miso-glazed Salmon comes with Lemon Sticky Rice, French Beans, Wasabi Peas, and Ginger-Soy Vinaigrette (modified for dairy allergy)

Lobster ‘Thermidor’ Burger

Lobster 'Thermidor' Burger

All I can say is wow is this burger amazing. It has to be one of my favorites! This is the Lobster ‘Thermidor’ Burger! It is comprised of an Artisanal 7-oz Burger Patty and Lobster-Parmesan Thermidor Sauce on a Seared Brioche Bun with Cafe Signature Seasoned French Fries. I don’t know if it was more the sauce or the lobster but it was just some of the best flavors I have ever had. This item best of all is on their breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu so no worries about being able to get a chance to try this one.

New York Strip Steak

Grand Floridian Cafe Dining Review 5

This steak was served with Cheesy Potato Gratin, Roasted Cipollini Onions, Broccolini, and House-made Steak Sauce. A very reasonably priced item considering it is a steak a Disney World this was a favorite and i don’t think any of it was left at the end of the meal.

Grand Floridian Cafe Recommendation

Two thumbs up! Some solid affordable options for both brunch and dinner. Due to the fact this stop often gets overlooked on people’s dining lists, it’s almost always easy to get last-minute reservations at the Grand Floridian Cafe. It’s a great stop for a quiet and inexpensive meal. So if you spent a long day in the park and are sick of counter service this may be the perfect fit for you. It is easy to access from the Magic Kingdom via resort monorail or a fun boat ride.

Can I please ask about the 'house-made steak sauce' that accompanies the dish, do you know the ingredients? Can you describe the taste. We are going for dinner in 2 weeks for that exact dish.
